Job Title: Building Estimator

Location: Lympne, Kent

Salary: £35,000- £45,000 PA depending on experience

Hours: 8-5pm

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time


Walker Construction are looking to hire an Intermediate Building Estimator to join their team in Lympne, Kent. They would like someone who is looking to progress in their career. You’ll be working on projects ranging from £500k-£3mil such as Refurbishments of offices, extensions to schools and small industrial units.

As an experienced Building & Civil Engineering Company working with private and public clients, we have evolved into a multi-disciplinary construction business with three core divisions, Construction, Rail & Civils.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse tender documentation and capture client’s requirements.
  • Produce an accurate BOQ for pricing purposes to reflect client’s requirements. 
  • Prepare material and sub-contractor enquiry documents.
  • Carry out site visits. Assimilate information and take account of in tender pricing. 
  • Assess individual rates and prices, create new or insert from sub-contract and material quotes.
  • Produce accurate and competitive commercial submission ready for internal review and sign off.


The Successful Candidate Should Have / Be:

  • 3 years of experience in Building Estimating
  • Some experience using Causeway Systems and MS Excel and Word.
  • Good knowledge of building material components and plant requirements. 
  • An understanding of the sequence of construction.
  • An understanding of NEC3 and JCT Conditions of Contract, current HSQE legislation and construction techniques and methods would be beneficial but training will be provided.
  • An understanding of SMM7.
  • Good negotiation, influencing and communication skills.
  • Good analytical and reasoning abilities.
