A highly respected planning and urban design consultancy is seeking a Town Planner with 3–5 years’ experience to join its collaborative team based in Milton Keynes.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established, design-led planning practice working on some of the UK’s most significant and complex development projects. The consultancy specialises in strategic planning, masterplanning and placemaking, delivering projects that shape sustainable communities, infrastructure and major development across the UK.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team of planners, urban designers and technical specialists, contributing to projects ranging from strategic land promotion and spatial strategies through to detailed planning applications and implementation.
The Role
You will play a key role supporting and delivering a range of planning and development projects, working closely with senior planners, designers and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities will include:
Preparing and managing planning applications, appeals and supporting documentation
Supporting strategic land promotion and development projects
Contributing to masterplanning and spatial planning workstreams
Undertaking planning research, policy analysis and site appraisals
Engaging with local authorities, clients, consultants and stakeholders
Supporting the preparation of planning strategies, development frameworks and planning statements
Assisting in coordinating multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful planning outcomes
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
3–5 years’ experience in town planning within consultancy or the public sector
A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline
Progress towards or achievement of RTPI chartership (MRTPI)
A strong understanding of the UK planning system and development process
Experience preparing planning applications and development proposals
Excellent written communication and report writing skills
A collaborative approach and the ability to work within multidisciplinary project teams
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
