Role: Estimator
Location: Bedfordshire

Salary & Package: £60,000 - £70,000 + package (will pay more for exceptional candidates)

Estimator Opportunity
A well-established and rapidly expanding groundworks and construction contractor based in Bedfordshire, delivering high-quality earthworks, foundations, drainage, infrastructure and hard landscaping for commercial and residential clients across the region. The business has a strong local reputation and a growing project portfolio with long-standing client relationships. Due to continued growth and an increasing pipeline of work, the business is now seeking an Estimator to join its growing pre-construction team, offering an excellent opportunity to play a key part in securing new work and supporting the company's continued expansion.

As an Estimator, you will take responsibility for:

• Preparing accurate and competitive tenders for groundworks and construction projects.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation to assess project requirements.
• Carrying out detailed take-offs and producing cost estimates and pricing schedules.
• Obtaining and evaluating quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Working closely with the commercial, operations and site teams to develop robust bids.
• Identifying risks, opportunities and value engineering options within tenders.
• Maintaining tender documentation, records and pricing databases.
• Supporting post-tender negotiations and handover to the delivery team.

As the Estimator, it is essential to have the following:

• Proven experience working as an Estimator within a construction or contractor environment.
• Strong understanding of groundworks, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and schedules of works.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of market rates.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders to tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with internal teams.
