Estimator Civil Engineering

Salary: From £50,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Warrington
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Work Location: 2 days from home, 3 days on site

About the Role:

As an Estimator, youll play a vital role in the pre-construction phase of our civil engineering projects. Youll be responsible for analysing tender documents, preparing accurate cost estimates, and contributing to successful bid submissions.

This is a key position where attention to detail, industry expertise, and a proactive approach are essential. Youll work collaboratively with the commercial and delivery teams to ensure a seamless handover from tender to execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects.
  • Review and assess tender documentation, drawings, and specifications.
  • Identify risks and opportunities within the project scope.
  • Collaborate with commercial, planning, and delivery teams to ensure consistency in pricing and methodology.
  • Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings when required.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Prepare bills of quantities (BoQs), pricing schedules, and supporting tender documentation.
  • Support value engineering initiatives to ensure cost efficiency and innovation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within the civil engineering or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Causeway, Conquest, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
  • Sound knowledge of infrastructure, drainage, earthworks, and highways projects.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Health & Safety Officer: 3 years (preferred).

Licences / Certifications (Preferred):

  • CSCS Card
  • Level 6 Health & Safety Qualification
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle
