Special Projects Manager (CEO’s Office)

Salary banding: £45,000–£50,000 + benefits

Hybrid (3 days in the office, City of London)

Boffin Recruitment are supporting a leading membership organisation in the UK education sector to appoint a Special Projects Manager to the CEO’s Office.

This is a key position working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, responsible for coordinating and delivering a range of strategic, cross-cutting projects that underpin the organisation’s mission and strategic goals.

About the role

Working closely with the CEO, this role will:

• Lead and deliver high-impact projects from planning through to delivery and evaluation.
• Translate strategic briefs from the CEO into actionable project plans, tracking progress against agreed milestones.
• Manage project risks, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and compliance standards.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams, members, and external partners to support successful project delivery.
• Prepare reports, updates and presentations for the CEO, board and leadership team.
• Act as the first point of contact for the CEO’s office, coordinating internal communications and supporting cross-team collaboration.
• Undertake office management duties, ensuring effective coordination of activities within the CEO’s office and supporting smooth day-to-day operations.
• Serve as secretariat for key internal meetings, including the weekly Leadership Team and monthly Performance Review meetings.
• Handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism at all times.

About you

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• Strong project management experience, ideally across multiple workstreams.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and confidence preparing reports and presentations for senior audiences.
• Experience working directly with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
• A collaborative and adaptable approach, with sound judgement and discretion.
• High standards of professionalism, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude.
• Experience within a membership organisation, association, or higher education environment is desirable.

Salary, benefits and process

• Salary: £45,000–£50,000 (dependent on experience)
• Hybrid working: 3 days per week in the Central London office.
• Full-time, permanent position with a friendly, collaborative team culture.
• Two-stage interview process, including a short task at the final stage.
