Estimator – Civil Engineering

The Role:

We’re looking for an Estimator to join our Civil Engineering team in our Penarth office. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to play a key role in pricing, tendering, and supporting the successful delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare quantities from drawings and specifications
• Support knowledge capture, innovation, and sector initiatives
• Prepare abstracts of material and subcontract requirements for pricing
• Carry out technical and commercial appraisals of material and subcontractor quotations
• Produce analytical estimates, including assessment of construction plant and temporary works
• Contribute to submission document preparation and attend site visits during tenders
• Use estimating software to prepare accurate estimates
• Evaluate construction methods and propose alternatives with the bid team
• Prepare forecasts of capital expenditure, income, and cash flow
• Support day-to-day delivery on small/medium projects and assist with larger programmes
• Develop client relationships and contribute to business growth
• Ensure compliance with client governance, company policies, and quality standards
• Commit to professional development and continuous improvement

Qualifications / Skills:

• Experience pricing work under NEC contracts (Fixed, Target Cost, Design & Build, Specification & Drawing, or ECI bids)
• Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Chartered or working towards (preferred)
• Strong technical understanding of Civil Engineering with ability to promote alternative solutions
