Role: Building Safety Consultant/ Building Regs Principal Designer

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (Projects across the North East)

Are you a Registered Architect or Architectural Technologist who is looking to deliver the BRPD service?

Would you like to move away from your typical role and deliver a new service for our client?

WRG has recently partnered with a newly established Principal Designer and Building Safety consultancy that operates across the North East. The business is looking to hire an experienced Architect or Architectural Technologist to deliver the Building Regs Principal Designer service for the business.

Our client has been up and running for just under a year and now have the capacity to appoint a BRPD to support their clients across the region with the BSA and Building Regs compliance. You will be overseeing a diverse portfolio of projects across the built environment - residential, commercial, leisure, industrial, healthcare and education.

The role would suit a design professional who would like to take a side step in their career and deliver this new service during a really exciting time for the industry, the role has only been around for the last 12 - 18 months and everyone across the industry and still finding their feet with the new service. Training and support would be provided from day one to upskill your knowledge regarding the BSA, to ensure you make a success of the role.

Duties:

• Develop and implement strategies to ensure all design and construction activities adhere to the Building Safety Act 2022 and relevant building regulations.
• Liaise with Principal Designer, Fire Engineers, MEP, Principal Contractor, Architects and other parties to ensure buildings regulations compliance on projects.
• Support clients with the relevant planning gateways.
• Prepare & maintain project building regulations compliance tracker throughout the project.
• Attend client and design team meetings to offer professional input relating to building regs compliance.
• Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
• Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.

Requirements:

• Degree in a design related field (desirable).
• Membership to RIBA, ARB or CIAT.
• Excellent knowledge of the BSA, building regulations, codes and legislation.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
