About the job

Description

Project Manager – Structured Cabling (Data Centres)

Location: London-based with UK-wide travel

Employment type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 DOE

What you’ll be doing:

We’re working with a specialist in end-to-end connectivity solutions who deliver high-quality infrastructure projects across the data centre sector. As a Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing structured cabling works from planning through to delivery — ensuring that quality, timescales, and budgets are met.

Typical project scopes include cross-connects, backbone fibre installations, rack deployments, containment, and testing — with a focus on delivering structured cabling packages to the highest standards in live data centre environments.

You’ll manage engineering teams on-site, coordinate suppliers, attend client meetings, and maintain full control of the project schedule. Most work will be based around London, but occasional UK travel is expected.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured cabling projects across live data centre environments
  • Oversee installations such as cross-connects, copper/fibre cabling, and backbone fibre runs
  • Manage rack builds, connectivity layouts, patching, and related activities
  • Coordinate project phases from kickoff to close-out, ensuring on-time delivery
  • Act as the key contact for clients, site teams, and internal delivery staff
  • Schedule resources, manage materials, subcontractors, and site activities
  • Monitor budgets, timescales, and deliverables with a focus on quality
  • Ensure H&S compliance and uphold high site standards
  • Provide regular progress reports, schedules, and documentation

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience delivering structured cabling projects (Cat6/6A, OM3/OM4 fibre, etc.)
  • Hands-on knowledge of cross-connects, backbone fibre, and rack infrastructure
  • Previous experience working in live data centre environments
  • Strong coordination and communication skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects with frequent travel to sites
  • Confident reporting project updates, managing client expectations, and directing site teams
  • Industry-relevant certifications (e.g. CNIT, CNID, CTPM, RCDD, or vendor-specific training) are preferred
  • ECS/CSCS or similar site safety qualifications (desirable)
  • Formal project management training (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP) is a plus but not required

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive salary of £50,000 – £70,000, depending on experience
  • Exciting opportunity to deliver high-profile infrastructure in the data centre sector
  • Career progression into senior project or programme management roles
  • Join a respected team with strong technical leadership and a full UK project pipeline
  • Company vehicle or travel allowance (depending on package)
