Estimator – Commercial Office Fit-Outs

We are a global leading main contractor specializing in high-quality commercial office fit-outs. We are currently looking for a skilled Estimator to join our dynamic team in London, where you will play a crucial role in the estimating and cost management of commercial office fit-out projects.


Role Overview:

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing and managing detailed cost estimates for a variety of commercial office fit-out projects, from initial design through to final construction. This role requires a deep understanding of the commercial fit-out industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for commercial office fit-out projects, ensuring all elements of the project are covered.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary project information and ensure accurate pricing.
  • Analyse project documents, drawings, and specifications to understand scope and develop comprehensive estimates.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and recommend value-engineering solutions to clients and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender submissions, providing detailed breakdowns of costs and value propositions.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor quotes, ensuring they align with project specifications and budget.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions, materials, and labour costs in both the UK and Australian markets.
  • Prepare and track bid submissions, including any necessary follow-up communication.
  • Liaise with senior management and the Australian office for coordination and best practices across both regions.
  • Attend client meetings, presentations, and site visits as needed to clarify scope, costs, and project requirements.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as an Estimator within the commercial office fit-out sector or a similar construction environment.
  • Strong understanding of cost planning, quantity surveying, and project estimation techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge of building materials, costs, and construction processes related to office fit-outs.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and tools (e.g., Candy, Buildsoft, CostX).
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Experience working with both UK and Australian standards and regulations is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team and collaborate across regions.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • A professional qualification (e.g., RICS or equivalent) is advantageous but not essential.
