We are looking for a dedicated, experienced and motivated person to join our Swindon operations team. Managing construction projects, you will lead Beard project teams, communicating business and project objectives to all members of the team and ensure company procedures are followed.

Job Purpose

To manage a selection of construction projects with the aim of achieving profitable, prompt and faultless delivery. The contracts manager is overall responsible for leading the Beard project team, communicating business and project objectives to all members of the team and ensuring company procedures are followed.


You'll be responsible for

  • Set high personal safety and environmental standards and ensure procedures are robustly applied.
  • Build good working rapport with customers, consultants and key members of the supply chain.
  • Look ahead and plan all aspects of the project, identifying challenges and suggesting solutions.
  • Have full ownership of programmes, developing, tracking and acting where necessary.
  • Manage the design process and consultant team to ensure information meets budget and procurement / construction timescales
  • Work closely with others to promote company vision, values and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Set clear goals and objectives for each team member, including personal development objectives.
  • Empower and encourage managers to reach considered and appropriate decisions.
  • Have profit and loss responsibility, working closely with the project QS to ensure targets are met.
  • Record and report all areas of delay or disruption to the progress of works and work to find resolution of issues.


Experience

  • 3 years’ commercial or industrial experience as a contract’s manager, or 5 years as a project manager
  • Must have experience in D&B, framework, two stage and negotiated contracts. Preconstruction knowledge and able to assist with tendering.
