We have an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified/experienced Chemist to join as a core member of the managerial team on a partner track at Concrete4Change. Job Title: Senior Civil Engineer (Research and development) Location: Nottingham Remuneration: Competitive Start date and end date (approx): This is a permanent position and is available for immediate start. You will plan, procure and manage the construction laboratory in line with regulations. You will be responsible for leading a team of civil engineers to utilise the cement and concrete chemistry knowledge for carbon capture and utilisation in concrete and evaluation of CCU techniques on the properties and long-term performance of cement-based materials Please see the person's specifications and roles & responsibilities below: Essential: 5 years post PhD experience leading independent research, ability to design and conduct research addressing fundamental scientific questions Experience in laboratory setup, HSE requirements, experience in equipment specification development and procurement Understanding carbonation mechanisms, and critical assessment of CO2 uptake and concrete performance over various life stages (product, use and end-of-life) Understanding concrete and cement chemistry R&D experience in developing low-carbon concrete Desirable: PI or co-PI on academic research projects or equivalent industrial experience. Experienced in developing proposal/bid writing. Experienced in computational chemistry, analysis and simulation of synthetic materials Experienced in carbon capture utilisation and storage Experienced in patent writing and grant proposal development Experienced in the mineralisation of CO2 for various applications.
