Description
A Gateway to Design Management Exclusively with Grõ Careers Imagine stepping into a world where your architectural expertise propels you beyond design - into high-stakes management of some of the world’s most visionary projects. This role invites you to evolve from a talented architect into a design manager, working alongside a team that defines industry standards and shapes global landscapes. Your Journey Begins Here From day one, immerse yourself in an exceptional onboarding experience crafted by industry leaders, designed to cultivate your skills and open new dimensions in design management. Supported by seasoned mentors, you’ll receive hands-on training and guidance that’s second to none. Projects That Define an Era You'll be tackling monumental projects, from cultural landmarks and iconic towers to pioneering campuses in healthcare. With project values ranging from £50 million to £500 million, your role will bring you face-to-face with world-renowned figures and C-suite leaders, engaging directly on schemes that push creative and commercial boundaries. Redefine Your Role Transitioning into this position, you’ll become a cornerstone of each project’s success, taking charge of strategic and day-to-day responsibilities that reach far beyond design. You’ll navigate project programming, manage budgets, negotiate contracts, and lead change control processes, all while coordinating large multidisciplinary teams. This is your chance to own the process on a grand scale. A World of Opportunities With potential for international travel, access to flagship projects, and the chance to connect with industry luminaries, this position promises a diverse and dynamic experience. Whether liaising with clients and consultants, crafting design programmes, or steering design workshops, each day offers a new challenge and a step closer to leadership. Who Thrives Here This is a role for architects who see potential at every stage of the process and aspire to guide rather than create. It’s for those ready to take a step into design management, gaining responsibility over the lifecycle of flagship projects without stepping away from the industry they’re passionate about. Bring your experience managing large-scale projects, paired with a solid understanding of design management principles. Skills like effective communication, deadline-driven organisation, and creative problem-solving will set you on a lucrative alternative career pathway as you lead multidisciplinary teams, navigate complex project requirements, and influence outcomes on a grand scale. With a talent for building strong relationships across all levels and an ability to adapt to diverse project types, you’ll be well-suited to thrive in this dynamic, high-impact role. Key Requirements To embark on this unique journey, you’ll ideally bring: 3–8 years of post-qualification experience in a UK-based, design-led studio, contributing to large-scale projects valued over £50 million. An understanding of design and project management roles within architectural projects, including knowledge of the Lead Consultant’s responsibilities. Project Documentation Experience: Hands-on experience with design programmes, route maps, design responsibility matrices, and project schedules. Direct Client Interaction: Experience developing project briefs (desirable) and presenting project stage reports to clients or internal stakeholders. Leadership in Team Settings: Experience leading design team meetings and workshops, preparing agendas, managing external consultants, and maintaining clear project documentation. Financial Acumen: An understanding of project fees, including collaborating with internal finance teams or cost consultants, with hands on exposure to drafting additional fee proposals based on client changes, and ensuring effective financial tracking throughout the project lifecycle highly desired. Attributes for Success: Exceptional organisational abilities, creative problem-solving skills, strong communication, and the capacity to manage deadlines and inspire collaboration across seniority levels. A Culture of Growth and Exploration Join a culture that prizes professional development and the pursuit of excellence. Enjoy advanced benefits, participate in industry events, and embrace opportunities for public speaking and knowledge sharing - all in an environment that celebrates your growth and individuality. If you’re ready for a unique opportunity to redefine your career in architecture and embrace design management, submit your CV to Reece at Grõ Careers. This exclusive position, available nowhere else, could be the first step in an exhilarating new chapter. Due to high interest, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
