The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Engineer to join our Consulting Highways team in Sheffield.

Amey Consulting’s Sheffield Hub provides design services that include - Highway Design, Bridges and Structures, Civil Engineering Infrastructure Design. The account also undertakes Traffic Design including Traffic Signals, Signing and Lining. Our professional services also include Project Management.

Our teams support the Amey Transport Infrastructure Sheffield Street Ahead contract as well as Local Authorities and other publicly funded bodies either through frameworks or as standalone commissions. We also support Private clients (e.g. Local Developers, Land Owners and Contractors)

 

Your New Role

Our Senior Engineers play an important part within the Highways Design team and alongside our clients. As an Engineer you will provide effective support and assistance to Senior Engineers on a variety of highways schemes whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior designers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Produce highway drawings packages including materials, construction details, calculations and documents
  • Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, Road Safety Audit briefs, public correspondence and other written documents
  • Undertake site visits, inspections and supervision
  • Attend and lead meetings and discussions with elected members, the client and other designers
  • You’ll produce technical reports and design to encourage and increase sustainable transport use
  • Undertake consultation (both Statutory and non-statutory) with regard to proposed highway projects
  • Provide support and progress updates to the Senior Engineer
  • Engage with and support Senior Engineer when working with third party stakeholders
  • Actively seek to reduce carbon through innovative designs
  • Liaise with other Engineers within the design team to ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards.

What you will bring to us:

  • Developed experience and expertise within Highways/Civil engineering field, probably gained in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalent
  • An ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound Highways engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements
  • Experience in undertaking project related tasks associated with health, safety and welfare, e.g. Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
  • Successful completion of the initial professional development leading to either Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional license and to the level defined by their education
  • A demonstrable commitment to your plan of actions and key dates leading to successful completion of either the professional review or end point assessment, resulting in the award of Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional license.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning
  • EngTech status is desirable, gained through the professional institution to which you are aligned.
